Emery Tharp

Emery Dale Tharp, 77, of Polo, Missouri passed away Tuesday, Feb. 28th, 2023 in his home in Polo, MO. He was born on Jan. 30th, 1946 at Wright Memorial Hospital, in Trenton, MO, the son of Lyle Dale Tharp and Marie Emma (Burkert) Tharp-Bohannon.

Emery was raised on the family farm in Spickard, MO. He attended K-12 at the Spickard School District and graduated in 1964. He married Gladys on Jan. 11th, 1974 in Bedford, MO. They lived on the family farm until 1989, then moved to Chillicothe, MO, and then to Polo, MO where they retired.

Emery was known for his kind and generous nature, always willing to give the shirt off his back without a second thought. If you knew Emery, you knew someone special. He will be deeply missed by his family and the many friends he made throughout his life journey.

Emery was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Lisa Jo Tharp.

He is survived by his wife Gladys Louise Tharp, two sons: Terry and wife Dalaina Tharp of Liberty, MO, Jeffrey and wife Kristi Tharp of Holt, MO; eight grandchildren, one step-grandchild; seventeen great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend the “Celebration of Life” and Lunch at 12:00pm Noon, Saturday April 15th, 2023 at the Masonic Lodge in Polo, MO.
