E. Geraldine "Gerry" Smith - age 83 of Weatherby, MO passed away Friday morning, January 10, 2025, at her home in Weatherby. She was surrounded by her girls, Gayla, Ashlie and Annie. Geraldine was born on September 28, 1941, the daughter of Henry and Angie (Pendergrass) Bickford in Pikeville, TN. She lived a short time in Tennessee and Florida before the family settled in the Kansas City area in 1951. Her love for Tennessee never faded away. Gerry graduated from high school in De Soto, Kansas. She married Paul D. Smith on February 17th, 1962. Gerry was a hairdresser for many years in Altamont before she sold her shop to the post office. She also worked as a waitress for many years. Geraldine was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Cameron and Liberty. She loved her flowers, crocheting and knitting. Gerry will be dearly missed.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents; son, Dewight Smith and husband, Paul D. Smith. She leaves behind her daughter, Gayla Smith of the home; grandchildren, Zach Gray of Tennessee and Ashlie Gray of the home; great-grandchildren, Zaydin Gray of Tennessee and Annie Gray of the home; siblings, Sarah (Bob) Isreal of Oregon, Phyllis Russell of Oklahoma, Walter (Carolyn) Bickford of Colorado, Everette (GayLynn) Bickford of Texas and Don Bickford of Missouri; many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the help with final expenses. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 17, 2025, at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may call after 9 AM Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, near Gallatin.
