Donna L. McElwee

Donna L. McElwee - age 85 of Blue Springs, Missouri and formerly of Cowgill, MO passed away Tuesday night, August 6, 2024, at her home in Blue Springs, Missouri. Donna was born on December 1, 1938, the daughter of Donald Herbert and Lucille B. (Raisor) Gray in Madison, Indiana. She grew up and attended high school in Madison. In 1966 Donna moved to Buckner, MO and then to Wellington and settled in the Cowgill area in 1978. Donna was united in marriage to John McElwee. She was a faithful member of the Cowgill United Methodist Church. Donna served on several boards in the community consisting of the Cowgill School Board, Cowgill Cemetery Board, and the Methodist Church Board. She loved her dogs and loved being on the farm. Donna enjoyed taking care of her flowers, birds and squirrels. She also had a particular fondness for Christmas. Donna had a deep love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. 

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Charlie Gray and nephew, Chris Gray. She is survived by children: Theresa Ainsworth and family of Blue Springs, MO, Don Driggs and family of Freeman, MO, Zoe Soendker and family of Blue Springs, MO, Charlie Driggs and family of Sandoint, ID, and Kara Schrock and family of Harrisonville, MO; other extended family members also survive.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Cowgill United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Donna's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 9, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home in Polo, MO.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service also at the funeral home.
