Donald F. O'Connor - age 95 of Cameron, MO passed away Sunday morning, January 5, 2025, at Oakridge of Plattsburg. Donald was born on September 18, 1929, the son of Bartholomew "Bat" and Agnes A. (Hales) O'Connor in Plattsburg, MO. He was a 1947 graduate of Plattsburg High School. He married Helen Taylor O'Connor on April 8th, 1948. Donald served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954. He served as a supply sergeant. For most of his life he was a farmer and self employed truck driver, hauling grain and livestock. He was also a licensed grain dealer. Later he worked for United Cooperatives in Plattsburg hauling fuel. Donald was a longtime member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Plattsburg. After moving to Cameron he was a member of St. Munchin Catholic Church. Donald was a member of the American Legion Post 97 in Plattsburg and the VFW. He loved animals and took exceptional care of his livestock and pets. He and Helen worked side by side and did everything together. Donald was a generous and kind man, yet practical. He highly valued his family and friends. Donald will be dearly missed.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Helen O'Connor; father and mother-in-law, Joseph H. and Oma Rachel Taylor; siblings, Thomas M. O'Connor and Charlene Swope; brothers-in-law Thomas Broderick, James Thornton, John Evans, Thomas Kipper, James Taylor; sisters-in-law Emma Lou Taylor and Oma Jo "Jody" Kipper. He is survived by his daughter, Jimalee O'Connor and her husband Loren Ross Jr. of Country Club, MO; siblings, Loretta Broderick of Plattsburg, MO, Juanita Thornton of Liberty, MO and Peggy Evans of Smithville, MO; sister-in-law, Beverly O'Connor of Cedar Park, TX, and brother-in-law, Emerson Swope of Ozark, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Calvary Cemetery in care of the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 18, 2025, at St. Munchin Catholic Church in Cameron. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 AM and the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM, prior to Mass at the church. Burial will be held at a later date at Calvary Cemetery, Plattsburg, MO. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Stith Funeral Home in Lathrop (816) 740-4658.
