Dixon Marion Leamer Obituary

Dixon Marion Leamer - age 82, a lifelong resident of Polo, MO passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 24, 2026, at Lawson Manor Nursing and Rehab in Lawson, MO. Dixon was born on August 7, 1943, the son of T.H. Dixon and Marion Jean (Hodson) Leamer in Polo. He was a 1961 graduate of Polo High School. Following high school he served in the Army Medical Reserves in Kansas City. At a young age he also worked for Dr. Robert "Bob" Smith, DVM at his clinic in Polo. He married Gloria Elaine Newbrough on March 22nd, 1974, at the Paris Christian Church in Paris, MO. Dixon instilled in his children and grandchildren the values of hard work that he learned at an early age and shaped his entire life. Dixon was a lifelong farmer, and he served as a Caldwell County Commissioner.

Dixon raised all kinds of livestock throughout his farming career. Most notably he raised and showed hogs and cattle.  He served on the Polo R-7 Board of Education, USDA Board, Zimmerman Cemetery Board, Senior Housing Board and the Caldwell County Farm Bureau Board. Dixon was also a member of the Missouri Cattlemen's Association, the Angus Association and Brangus Association. He had also served as a livestock leader in 4H. Dixon enjoyed square dancing with Gloria and showing livestock with his family. Dixon will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Dixon was preceded in death by his parents and nephews, Rusty and Wally Aubrey. He is survived by his wife Gloria; daughters, Valerie Gilmer (Scott), Suzanne Leamer, and Sarah Cramer (Chad); grandchildren, Dillon Gilmer, Wyatt Gilmer, Emily Grace Gilmer, Jacob Gilmer, Michael Leamer (Koralle), Logan Chapman, Alayna Chapman, Kaitlyn Rechtermann, Madison Bowman (Garrett), and Baylor Rechtermann; great-grandchildren, Stetson and Landon; sister, Dixie Aubrey-Norton; and his nephew, James Aubrey (Annie); other extended family members also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Polo Community Church in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Dixon's life will be held at 10 AM Monday, June 29, 2026, at Stith Funeral Home in Polo.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Sunday, the evening prior, also at the funeral home. Friends may call after 2 PM Sunday, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow the services at Zimmerman Cemetery, south of Polo.
