Diana Lee (Farmer) Hughs - age 70 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday morning, July 4, 2024, at her home. Diana was born on October 26, 1953, the daughter of Robert Kenneth and Viola Mae (Maupin) Farmer in Kansas City, MO. In addition to Independence, she grew up in Fayette and Glasgow, MO. Diana was a 1971 graduate of Van Horn High School. She married Christian Hughs March 28th, 1998, at The Morgan Haus in Kansas City, MO. Diana taught preschool at the Independence Headstart and was also a Daycare director. She liked to read, watch court shows, cooking shows and hallmark movies. Diana loved the beach and bird watching. She was a friend to all and was always there to help others. She loved her family and was always up for a get together. Diana will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Christian of the home; daughters, Vicki Schemmer (Duane) of Independence, MO and Carla Vaneck of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Zachary Seynemeier (Sierra), Emily Hills, Ryan Hills, Jacob Shellenberger, and Walon Shellenberger; great-grandchildren, Colton Seynemeier, Deacon Seynemeier, and Spyder Webb; and brothers, Kenny Farmer (Kay), Keith Farmer (Robin), and Kirk Farmer (Pam); other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Wayside Waifs in care of the funeral home. A celebration of Diana's life will be held at a later date.
