Dewey R. Hobbs Obituary

Dewey R. Hobbs, age 81, of Polo, Missouri, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Mosiac Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri. Dewey was born January 15, 1940, in Idaho, a son of Everett Carl and Clara May (Roberts) Hobbs. Dewey grew up in Shell Knob, MO and graduated from school there. He worked for Holmes Drywall Supply for 41 years as a delivery driver and crane operator. He married Bonnie (Tilton) Humphreys on September 9, 1988, in Independence, MO. Dewey lived mainly in the Kansas City area before moving to Polo 22 years ago. He enjoyed woodworking, building everything from swings, planters, and wishing wells. Dewey could tell stories all day and never tell the same one twice.  He never met a stranger and had a great sense of humor. Dewey truly was "Mr. Nice Guy" and loved to help people.  Dewey will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Tim Jones and brothers, Doyle Hobbs, Bub Hobbs, Max Hobbs and Don Hobbs.  He is survived by his wife,  Bonnie Hobbs (Dewey) of Polo, MO; nine children, Kathy Hicks (Kenny) of Polo, MO, Danny Kimbrough (Becky) of Longview, MO, Michael Kimbrough (Sheree), Rowena (Rob) Evans of Goodman, MO, Duane Kimbrough (Toni) of Longview, MO, Allen Hobbs (Sissy) of Polo, MO, Mila Wilson (Jason) of Cameron, MO, Tammy Secreast (Terry) of Neodesha, KS, and Michelle (Mike) Topass of Rich Hill, MO; six grandchildren, Shannon Hobbs (Annie) of Polo, MO, Crystal Stuerke of Polo, MO, Shane Hobbs of Liberty, MO, Alex Mussett of Holt, MO, Parker Booth of Cameron, MO, Maggie Topass of Rich Hill, MO, Angela James, Tyler Fesmire, Dakota Kimbrough, Shelby Kimbrough, Brittany Mullins, Marcus Kimbrough; great-grandchildren, Ava, Hollis, Tristan, Taylor, Micha, Gunnar, Issac, Peyton, Tristan, Karsyn, and Tatum; and siblings, Linda Powell of Wheaton, MO, and Mary Washick (Frank) of Pierce City, MO, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members also survive. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home. A celebration life gathering will begin at noon, Saturday, December 11th, 2021, at the Polo Community Building in Polo.
