David Stewart Lovelace

David Stewart Lovelace - age 84 of Lathrop, MO passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 26, 2024, at his home in Lathrop. David was born on January 27, 1940, the son of Harry Eugene and Ruby (Church) Lovelace in Atchison, KS. Dave spent his childhood in Seattle, WA and Atchison, KS. He was a 1957 graduate of Atchison High School. Dave attended Northwest Missouri State University where he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Arts and a minor in Biology in 1962. He later obtained a Master's Degree in Industrial Education from the University of Missouri. Dave married Carolyn Culver on August 27th, 1961, at the Lathrop First Christian Church. He taught Biology, General Science and Industrial Arts at Lathrop High School for eight years until 1970. Dave then taught Industrial Arts at Excelsior Springs High School, before teaching carpentry at the Excelsior Springs Vo-Tech Center, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Lathrop School Board, Lake Lenore Club, and a Deacon of the First Christian Church, serving on the church board. Dave enjoyed fishing and hunting quail, deer, and turkey. He had a good sense of humor and enjoyed teasing people. Dave enjoyed watching Fox News, Chiefs Football, and old westerns. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Lovelace. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn of the home; son, Eric Lovelace (Amy) of Leawood, KS; daughter, Deah Donelson (Troy) of Lathrop, MO; grandchildren, Zackery Donelson (Courtney) of Cameron, MO, Brayden Donelson of Cameron, MO, Emma Lovelace of Leawood, KS, and Ian Lovelace of Leawood, KS; and great-grandchildren, Weston and Sutton; other extended family members also survive.
 
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Lathrop First Christian Church in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Dave's life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Lathrop First Christian Church.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services also at the church.  Burial will follow at Lathrop Cemetery.
