Daniel Jefferson Sims - age 78 of Gallatin, MO passed away from cancer on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at his home in Gallatin, surrounded by his loving family. Danny was born on December 30, 1946, the son of Daniel Thomas and Ida Mae (Clutter) Sims in Coffey, MO. He was a 1964 graduate of Coffey High School. He married Lonna Hamilton on April 22nd, 1967 and to this union two sons, Zack and Tylor were born. Danny later married Shelly Morris Dunkin on January 19th, 1995, in Las Vegas, NV and four more children were added to the family. He worked for General Motors for 30 years and was a member of the UAW. He attended Lake Viking Church. Danny loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed racing of all kinds. Danny will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Stanley Sims. He is survived by his wife Shelly of the home; children, Zack Sims of Lathrop, MO, Tylor Sims (Connie) of Lathrop, MO, Dawn Ezzell (Zack) of St. Joseph, MO, Daniel Dunkin (Lisa) of Trenton, MO, Melissa Pardun (Richard) of Dallas, TX, and Tara Freeman (Aaron) of Columbia, MO; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one on the way; siblings, Karen Owens of Trenton, MO, Randy Sims (Tracy) of Winston, MO, and Sandy Meek of Jamesport, MO; nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Lake Viking Church in care of the funeral home. A service celebrating Danny's life will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August 9th, 2025, at the Lake Viking Church, Gallatin, MO. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Friday (the evening prior) at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin. Friends may call after 1 PM Friday at the funeral home.
