Cheryl (Hagan) Snodgrass Obituary

Cheryl (Hagan) Snodgrass – age 76, longtime Lathrop, MO resident passed away Saturday morning, February 20th, 2021 at Northcare Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO.  Cheryl was born on May 30th, 1944 the daughter of Edwin and Nell Lena (McIntosh) Hagan in Mercer County, MO.  She was a 1961 graduate of Princeton High School, Princeton, MO.  On November 28th, 1963 she was united in marriage to Gerald Snodgrass at Freedom Baptist Church in rural Mercer County.  Cheryl obtained a bachelor of science degree in education from Missouri Western State College in 1970.  She began teaching second grade at Lathrop Elementary School in the fall of 1970. In addition to second grade, she furthered her career at the Lathrop School District as director of the Expanding Horizons Gifted program and cheerleading coach.  Cheryl retired from the Lathrop School District in 1999 and joined Gerald at the real estate office as a realtor.  She was a member of the Lathrop United Methodist Church, the Lathrop Rotary Club, Lathrop Antique Car, Tractor and Engine Association, GFWC Lathrop Study Club, Lathrop Library Board and the Sweet Adeline singing group.  Cheryl was a founding member of the Clinton County Senate Bill 40 and the 2020 Lathrop Friendship Festival Senior Queen.  She enjoyed reading, and especially watching murder mysteries and home improvement TV shows.  Cheryl loved her family, especially her grandchildren, former students and her community. Cheryl touched the lives of many, often being called a “second mom”, which was a title she treasured. Cheryl never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Michael Zoeller; nephew, Nicholas Snodgrass; aunts, uncles and other extended family members. Survivors include: husband, Gerald of the home; children, Mark Snodgrass of Pinehurst, TX, Lori Snodgrass of Lathrop, Mika (Matt) Hufford of Lathrop; grandchildren, Edwin and Rowan Hufford; sister, Carolyn Zoeller of Lathrop; brother-in-law, Dwight (Lynn) Snodgrass of St. Charles, MO; nephew, Jon (Kim) Snodgrass of Fort Collins, CO; niece, Jenna Lucero of Spring, TX; several great nieces, great nephews and other extended family members also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Lathrop Park Fund or Lathrop United Methodist Church Trustee’s Fund.  Celebration of Life Services will be held, 11 AM, Saturday, April 17th, 2021 at the Lathrop United Methodist Church in Lathrop, MO. Visitation will be held the evening prior from 5 to 7 PM, also at the church.  Inurnment in Lathrop Cemetery, Lathrop, MO at a later time.  Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Stith Funeral Home, Lathrop.
