Carla Ruch - age 74 of Jameson, MO passed away Thursday evening, April 9, 2026 at Cameron Regional Medical Center in Cameron, Missouri. Carla was born on October 23, 1951, the daughter of Ray and Irene (Hillman) Thede in Marshalltown, IA. She was raised in Marshalltown and graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1969. On November 7, 1969, Carla was united in marriage to the love of her life, Larry Ruch, at Grace United Methodist Church in Marshalltown. In 1982, they moved to Gilman City, later making their home in Jameson. Carla was well known in the community as the owner of the Café in Gilman City for 15 years. She had a gift for making people feel welcome, and no one ever left her table hungry. Cooking wasn’t just something she did, it was how she showed love. More than anything, Carla cherished her family. They were her greatest joy and the center of her world. Whether it was a home cooked meal, a gathering around the table, or simply time spent together, she made every moment special. Carla will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Carla was preceded in death by her parents; husband Larry Ruch; son, Lennon Ruch; and siblings, Craig VanZee and Cindy VanZee. She is survived by her daughter, Kelli Cleaveland (Jeff) of Stewartsville, MO; grandchildren, Karlee Mclain (Adam) of Stewartsville, MO, Joe Cleaveland (Hannah) of Chillicothe, MO, Lacey Jessa (Mike) of Chillicothe, MO, Taylar Huffman of Bethany, MO, and Jon Ruch (Robyn) of Jameson, MO; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Carol Haney (John) of Marshalltown, MO; sister-in-law, Deb Mead (Dan) of Marshalltown, MO; along with nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM, Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Community Room in Jamesport, MO.
