Carl David Mick

Carl David Mick, a lifelong resident of Holt, MO, passed away at the age of 87 while surrounded
by family on July 7, 2025, at the NorthCare Hospice House in North Kansas City.

David was born on February 27, 1938, the son of Opal and Thelma (Amos) Mick in Holt. He was
a 1956 graduate of Lathrop High School. David worked for Kenworth Truck Co. in Kansas City
and for the Clinton County Road and Bridge. As a lifelong Holt resident, David was always
involved with his community; he was a founding member of the Holt Fire Department, serving as
the assistant fire chief for several years. He also attended the Holt Baptist Church. David loved
to interact with his friends eating breakfast at the truckstop and lunch at Betty’s. David was
always very positive, happy and fun to be around; in his eyes everyone was a good person.
David liked sports including NASCAR. He especially enjoyed following Lathrop High School as
well as his grandkids and great grandkids activities. He also enjoyed square dancing and
singing. His kids have fond memories of him singing catchy tunes as well as going to Jim
Mathis’ gas station and getting pepsi and peanuts. In addition to working, he also farmed
raising tobacco, hogs and cattle. David will be dearly missed.

David was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Henry Mick, James Mick, and Donna
Clark. He is survived by his children, Kenni Hisel (Doug) of Lawson, MO; Kelsey Mick (Heidi) of
Liberty, MO; Krescha Hurshman (Marty) of Liberty, MO, and Carla Mick of Excelsior Springs,
MO; grandchildren, Autumn Smith (Robert) of Lathrop, MO; Heather Hibbs (Clint) of Kansas
City, MO; Aaron Mick (Michaela) of Lee's Summit, MO; Tyler Hurshman (Tessie) of Kansas City,
MO; Conner Hurshman of Liberty, MO; Bryce Mick-Claypool of Kearney, MO, and Adrina Mick of
Excelsior Springs, MO; fourteen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other extended
family members also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Antioch Cemetery in care of the
funeral home. A service celebrating David's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 19,
2025, at Hidden Valley Funeral Home in Kearney, under the direction of Stith Funeral Home in
Lathrop. The family will receive friends beginning one-hour prior to the service at Hidden Valley
Funeral Home in Kearney. Burial will follow at the Antioch Cemetery in Holt. Arrangements
