Burl L. Tranbarger

Burl L. Tranbarger, 86, went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 8, 2026, at his home in Gallatin, Missouri. 

Burl was born September 13, 1939 to Major M. and Minerva Tranbarger, in Bowling Green, Missouri. He was one of 11 children and was raised in Mountain View, Missouri. 

He served in the US Navy from 1957 – 1960. He met Doris J Proctor, the love of his life, at a youth camp in southern Missouri, where Doris’s Aunt and Uncle were Pastors. They were united in marriage on November 5, 1960 at the Little Brown Church in the Wildwood at Nashua, Iowa. 

To this union were born three children, Darrell, Dana and Doyle. Through their lifetime, Burl and Doris’ family has grown to 31 members, which includes 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. 

Burl was employed by the United States Postal Service from 1964-1996 where he greatly enjoyed serving people. 

In 2003 Burl and Doris moved to Gallatin, where they’ve enjoyed the last 23 years, cherishing rich friendships and memories. Burl was a member of First Baptist Church of Gallatin, Missouri. In the church and in the community, Burl and Doris have served in various roles. 

Burl loved the Lord and his family. God was his biggest source of strength. He was a spiritual leader and prayer warrior for his family and friends. He enjoyed woodworking, including making toys for grandchildren, great grandchildren, and Samaritan’s Purse. 

Burl loved bird watching and photography of many subjects, including birds, deer, and other wildlife around their property. Other hobbies included genealogy, fishing, gardening, and fixing anything that needed fixing.

Burl believed firmly that God provided every step of the way, through the peaks and valleys of life, and greatly praised his Lord and Savior for His grace and goodness.  

Burl was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, and 4 sisters. 

He is survived his wife, Doris, 3 children: Darrell (Gretchen) Tranbarger, Dana Ainsworth, Doyle (Ruth) Tranbarger; 7 grandchildren: Amanda (Zach) Hall, Michael (Michelle) Tranbarger, Erica (Chris) Mercer, Heather (Branigan) Shoemaker, Cortney (Ryan) Miller, Christina Sauseda, Travis (Raven) Tranbarger, and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Tranbarger, and sister, Faye Vance, along with nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Services will be held at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin on Saturday, June 13, 2026. Visitation is 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., with funeral services to follow. Burial and a short graveside service will follow the funeral at Hillcrest Cemetery.
