Betty C. Edwards - age 92 of Winston, MO passed away Thursday morning, June 19, 2025 at Daviess County Nursing and Rehab in Gallatin. Betty was born on April 8, 1933, in Edgerton, MO the daughter of Clyde and Lottie (Webb) Collier. She graduated from Smithville High School and, on April 19, 1952, married the love of her life, Donald E. Edwards, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Betty dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at several facilities, including the Excelsior Springs Nursing Home. Betty served her community for nearly two decades through her work at the Daviess County Library. A woman of deep faith, she played the piano for many years at the Winston Baptist Church and Gallatin Seventh-day Adventist Church. Her music was a meaningful part of worship. Betty had a creative spirit and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and playing the piano. Betty's family was very important to her and she loved them greatly. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald E. Edwards; daughter, Rose Colleen Wiedner; and siblings, Bonnie Shrimplin (Floyd) and Earnest Collier (Gerrie). She is survived by her son, Clyde "Gene" Edwards (Nancy) of Winston, MO; Son-in-law, Dennis Widener; grandchildren, Natalie Myles (Joseph) of Independence, MO, Lindsey Edwards (Troy Henrie) of Cameron, MO, Bradley Edwards (Whitney) of Kidder, MO, John Isaac Widener of Deadwood, SD, and Charley Widener; and great-grandchildren, Audrey Myles, Hunter Myles, Avery Myles, Rylie Henrie, Collin Edwards, Deacon Edwards, and Emmett Edwards.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Gallatin Adventist Community Services Center-Daviess County Food Bank in care of the funeral home. Service Celebrating Betty's Life will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, June 29,2025, at the Gallatin Seventh-day Adventist Church in Gallatin, MO. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, June 29, 2025 at the church. Private burial will be held at McDaniel Cemetery, Cameron, MO.
