Betty (McCoy)Masters Obituary

Betty (McCoy) Masters - age 96 of Gallatin, MO passed away Monday, June 21st, 2021 at her home. Betty was born on June 4th, 1925, the daughter of Landon and Lena (Wilson) McCoy in Halls, MO.  She was a graduate of Benton High School in St. Joseph.  On April 7th, 1945 she was united in marriage to Donald Masters in Atchison, KS.  They made their home in Halls, MO where they farmed.  They owned and operated a Sinclair service station until moving to Altamont, MO in 1959 where the established a Grade A Dairy.  They also owned and operated Masters Feed and Grocery in Altamont.  In 1974 they purchased the laundromat under Tate Motor Company in Gallatin and moved to Gallatin in 1977, when they purchased a second laundromat, along with a carwash. They later developed a trailer court.  The couple retired in 1988.  Betty’s most important role was homemaker.  She was strong willed and family oriented. Betty loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  She was a good cook; hot rolls were a favorite. Betty was caring and kind. Betty loved animals and watching sports of all kinds. She especially enjoyed the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs.  Betty will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; siblings, Landon McCoy, Jr, Hyla McCoy, Lavena Wilson, Esther Gibson, Ruth Elo, Alice Lapaglia, Shirley Brown and Patty Smart; son-in-law, Connie Carder; great-grandson, David Cylas Masters; daughters-in-law, Effie Masters and Fredda Masters. Survivors include: daughter, Phyllis Lollar-Carder of Gallatin; son, Don Masters, Jr. of Gallatin; son, David (Dixie) Masters of Cameron, MO; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, and other extended family members also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Active Aging Resource Center in care of the funeral home. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 AM, Saturday, June 26th, 2021 at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
