Anna Irene Gaul

Anna Irene Gaul - age 92 of Excelsior Springs, MO and formerly of Holt, MO passed away Saturday morning, October 24th, 2020 at her daughter's home in Lee's Summit, MO. Irene was born on June 25th, 1928 the daughter of Jack and Mallie Delight (Vaughn) Thoresen in  Oklahoma City, OK.  On September 19th, 1969 she was united in marriage to Charles Gaul in Kansas City, MO.  Irene was of the Catholic faith.  Irene and Charles were the former owners of Country Gardens Restaurant, Days Past Flea Mall and Granny’s in Holt before retiring in 2009.  Irene touched a lot of lives and made lots of friends.  She was very social.  Irene was generous and good hearted.  She was an extremely hard worker and an excellent cook.  Irene will be dearly missed.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; brother, Harold Thoresen; sister, Jackie Rice; son, Louis Wolverton; daughter, Mary Wolverton. Survivors include: her children, Dru (Bruce) Kincaid of California; Elyse (John) Finochio of Arizona; daughter, Valerie Schmidt of Shawnee, KS; Rebecca (Sean) McGurn of Lathrop; Robert (Pam) Wolverton of Lee’s Summit; Christopher Wolverton of Excelsior Springs; Carrie (Jeff) Mentink of Lee’s Summit; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister, Faye Huntington of Oklahoma City; step-sister, Jane of California; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Antioch Cemetery in care of the funeral home. A celebration of life is planned for next year. Burial: Antioch Cemetery, Holt, MO.
