Allen L. Whitt

Allen Whitt "Albone" aka "Governor" - age 75 of Cameron, Missouri took his final lap on this earth and received his checkered flag, Wednesday morning, June 12, 2024, at Cameron Nursing Center in Cameron. Allen was born on September 16, 1948, the son of Ollus and Zora (Sharp) Whitt in Gallatin, MO. He was a 1966 graduate of Gallatin High School. He married Sally Tucker on August 25, 1971, at the Gallatin First Baptist Church. Allen accepted Jesus October 29, 1974, and attended the Gallatin Assembly of God Church. He was a hard worker and had several jobs in his life. He worked for Hunt Midwest, and later owned Garage City in Gallatin. He worked for Duffy Reynolds doing dirt work for a time and with his brother-in-law, Larry Barton doing siding and guttering. Allen also worked at Robert's Tool & Die for a good friend, Charlie Roberts. He was the first ambulance driver in the city of Gallatin. Allen loved dirt track racing and would compete at Riverside, Winston, Savannah, and Jamesport. His number was 46. He started racing at 18 and ended up racing for over 30 years. Allen's in-laws were a big supporter of him and sponsored him in his races. He was a soft spoken man who was loved by everyone. Allen will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Deborah Whitt; brother-in-laws, Larry Barton and Glen Tucker; and his father and mother-in-law, Jeff and Thelma Tucker. He is survived by his wife Sally Whitt of Cameron, MO; children, Scott Huitt of Cameron, MO, Tray Whitt of Cameron, MO, Melanie Garrens Lincoln of Smithville, MO, and Cheyenne Whitt (Steven) of Kingston, MO; siblings, Norman Whitt of Cameron, MO, Loren Whitt (Sandra) of Faucett, MO, Susie Roach (Jerome) of Liberty, MO, Jeanie Barton of Kansas City, MO, and Cathy Johnson (Glen) of Bethany, MO; brother-in-law Harvey Tucker (Betty) St. Joseph, MO; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family.
 
A service celebrating Allen's Life will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Stith Funeral Home, Gallatin, MO. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family asks that you come casually, as you are or wear your favorite racing shirt.
