Abie J. Hochstetler

Abie J. Hochstetler, born on March 1, 1945, in Kalona, IA to Joe and Gertrude (Mast) Hochstetler, passed away May 19, 2026, at his home near Jamesport at the age of 81 years, 2 months, and 18 days.

On September 3, 1970, he married Mary Bontrager; she survives at the home. They lived in matrimony for 55 years, 8 months, and 16 days.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, are his children: Sara, married to John Henry Miller, Jamesport, MO; Naomi Married to Vernon Schrock, Jamesport, MO; Barbara, married to Toby Mast, Bloomfield, IA. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; 1 brother and 2 sisters: Ora (Florence) Hochstetler, Hillpoint, WI; Emma Hershberger, West Union, OH; Atla Chupp, Humboldt, IL; and brother-in-law, Ervin (Mary) Hostetler, Arcola, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters, Clara and Elizabeth; 3 brothers-in-law, Atlee Hershberger, Virgil Yoder, and Elva Chupp; and 1 great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM Friday, May 22, 2026, at the John Troyer residence, Jamesport, MO. Arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of Stith Funeral Home in Jamesport. (660) 684-6133
