Virgil "Jerry" Taylor Obituary

Virgil “Jerry” Taylor – age 92, went to his eternal rest on January 11th, 2019, surrounded by his loving wife, Mary Ruth (Holtzclaw) and his extended loving family by his side.  Jerry was born on December 10th, 1926 the oldest son of James and Mildred (Hall) Taylor in Orrick, MO.  He was one of 8 brothers and sisters.  Jerry attended Orrick High School and was drafted to the United States Army after graduation.  He was a WWII Veteran as part of the occupation force in Japan after the war.  Jerry was a dedicated employee for General Motors in Fairfax for over 30 years.  He farmed and raised cattle in his “spare time.” 

Jerry and Mary have three children; son Jerry Dean Taylor and wife Marilyn of Lawson, MO; son Stephen Eugene Taylor and wife Mila of Moyock, NC; daughter Sharon Kay Noble-Cregger and husband Bob of Cowgill, MO.  Jerry has three siblings who survive; brother Donald Taylor and wife Alta of Lawson, MO; brother Danny Taylor and wife Ethel of Lawson, MO; sister Billie Cross of Independence, MO.  Jerry and Mary have 8 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one soon to be great great-grandchild.

Jerry was well loved and respected by all who had the good fortune of meeting him.  He will be missed dearly by all.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Knoxville Community Church in care of Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday afternoon, January 15th, 2019 at the Knoxville Community Church with Pastor David Miller officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM the evening prior, January 14th, 2019 also at the church.  Friends may call after 11 AM on Monday at the funeral home.  Burial with full military honors to follow at Prairie Ridge Cemetery west of Polo.  Arrangements entrusted to Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo.
