Velva Jewel Eileen (Trussell) Ivy – age 96 of Cameron, MO passed away Friday morning, January 12th, 2018 at home with family by her side. She was born on November 2nd, 1921 to Alva and Alta Alice (Stagg) Trussell in Kansas City, MO.  Velva grew up in the Kansas City area. On August 16th, 1940 she was united in marriage to Louis Ray “Dick” Ivy in Liberty, MO. Velva and Dick made their home in Holt, MO for over 50 years.  She worked for Rabco and Milbanks in Kansas City, MO for most of her working career. Velva was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holt for many years.  She embroidered and quilted baby blankets for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Taking care of her family, she made her children’s clothes through the years. Velva was a dedicated caregiver to any of her family members that needed her and others.  At the age of 55, Velva got her driver’s license and this allowed her to become a very independent woman. Her and Dick enjoyed square dancing.  She loved her family dearly, especially all babies, including her own, grandchildren and great grandchildren believing all babies are gifts from GOD.  
 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick; daughter, Dixie Ivy; son, Jack Ivy; son, Robbie Ivy; brother, Alva Trussell Jr.; brother, Wray Trussell; brother, Silas Trussell; infant sister, Ellen May Trussell and great-grandson, Nick King.
 

Survivors include: daughter, Linda Johnson and husband of Cameron, MO; daughter, Carol King of Lathrop, MO; son, Ray Ivy of Lathrop, MO; 1 sister; 2 brothers; 25 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren and sever other extended family members.  
 

Celebration of Life: 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 17th, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Holt.  Visitation and Viewing: Tuesday evening, 6 to 8 PM at Stith Family Funeral Home in Lathrop. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the church.  Inurnment at a later date at Antioch Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Stith Family Funeral Home in Lathrop, MO.
