Sarah Ruth Brelsford – age 100 of Kansas City, MO passed away Wednesday night, November 1st, 2017 at Garden Valley Nursing and Rehab in Kansas City, MO. It was on November 18th, 1916 that the lord blessed the home of Milton Hiram and Hattie (Cooper) Brelsford with the gift of a daughter. Ruth was raised on the family farm west of Polo, MO and graduated from Mirable High School. Following graduation, she obtained her teaching certificate from Warrensburg State Teacher’s College. She also worked at the Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Company during the Korean War and later as a secretary at the Wornall Road Baptist Church. Despite her retirement, she obtained her real estate license at the age of 65 and sold homes well into her 90’s. Ruth was a regular attendee and contributor at church throughout her life. She regularly taught Sunday School classes, and was actively involved in the Christian Business and Professional Women’s Club of Kansas City for several years. Ruth was a member of Metro North Baptist Church. In 2010 she moved to the Garden Village independent living center, where she built friendships and enjoyed helping people (like she did all of her life). Ruth enjoyed going to the Opera with her brother, Hiram.
