Lillie Prewitt -age 72 of Polo, MO passed away Monday evening, March 26th, 2018 at her home. She was born on June 15th, 1945 in Kansas City, MO and was the daughter of Paul and Rubie (Barton) Hughes. Lillie grew up in Kanas City and graduated from Northeast High School. On June 19th, 1963 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Prewitt in Kansas City, MO. Lillie was a homemaker, a military wife, and a pastor’s wife. Alongside her husband they served Baptist churches in Breckenridge, MO, Carrollton, MO and Kingston, MO. She loved to crochet and knit. Lillie would make afghans for new babies, marriages and pretty much everyone she knew. She also was known to frequent quilt shops and craft fairs. Lillie was never negative and never had a bad word to say about anyone. She saw the best in people. Lillie loved children and enjoyed her years of being a vacation bible school teacher and craft teacher at children’s camp. She enjoyed going to the country music shows in Branson, but most of all she loved doing things for other people. Lillie will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Prewitt was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jeanie Ortiz. Those left to mourn her passing include: husband of 54 years, Kenneth of the home; daughter Tina and her husband Jeff Rash of Polo, MO; son, Paul Prewitt of Tucson, AZ; granddaughter, Tiffany and her husband Nathan Steward of Waverly, KS; grandson, James Nickles of Excelsior Springs, MO; grandson, Zachary Prewitt of Lathrop, MO; grandson, Tanner Prewitt of Lathrop, MO; granddaughter, Jennifer Rash of Polo, MO; granddaughter, Taylor Rash of Hamilton, MO; granddaughter, Jordan Rash of Polo, MO; grandson, Ryan Prewitt of Phoenix, AZ; great-grandchildren: Trypp, Sterling, Maverick and Emily.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association and may be left at or mailed to the funeral home (301 E. Elm St Polo, MO 64671). Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, April 6th, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Polo. The family will receive friends starting at 9:30 AM at the church. Burial will follow at promptly 1:00 PM at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo, MO.
