Jon Nolan Carter – age 51 of Lathrop, MO passed away Tuesday night, July 9th, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jon was born on November 1st, 1967 the son of Coy Murray and Wilma (Vinning) Carter in St. Joseph, MO. He was a 1986 graduate of Lathrop High School. On April 28th, 1990 he was united in marriage to Heather McConnell. Jon was an EMT for Tri-County Ambulance District and a firefighter for the Lathrop Fire Department. He was a member of the Lathrop Masonic Lodge #506, the Moila Shrine in St. Joseph and the Lathrop United Methodist Church. Jon enjoyed doing charity work and would help anyone in need. He had a passion for his work as a firefighter and EMT. Jon liked to “garage sale” with his mother, spend time with friends and family and barbeque. He also enjoyed playing Santa Claus. Jon will be missed by many.
Mr. Carter was preceded in death by: his father, Coy; stepfather, Bill Tippit; nephew, Jeffrey Carter. Those left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life include: wife, Heather of the home; mother, Wilma Carter-Tippit of Plattsburg; brother, Michael (Debbie) Carter of Harrisonville; brother, Tim Carter of Lake Ozark; sister, Robin (John) Brown of Pleasant Hill; several nieces and nephew that meant a lot to him; other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association and may be mailed to Stith Family Funeral Home in Lathrop (408 East St. Lathrop, MO 64465). A Visitation is scheduled from 10 AM to noon Saturday, July 20th, 2019 at the Lathrop United Methodist Church in Lathrop. A Masonic Service will take place at the church before departing to the cemetery. Graveside services to follow the visitation at Lathrop Cemetery.
