James "Jim" Parton Obituary

James “Jim” E. Parton – age 94 of Gallatin, MO, passed away Wednesday morning, April 17th, 2019 at his home.  Jim was born on July 18th, 1924 to James Arthur and Lula Mae (Wheeler) Parton in Weatherby, MO.  He was united in marriage to Mary Stevenson in March of 1945 and had three children together.  Jim later married Carol Elaine Berry Cope on August 7th, 1986 in Miami, Oklahoma and gained three step-sons. 
 

Jim ran a Grade A dairy farm prior to being a truck driver where he hauled livestock, produce and grain from Texas to the east coast.  He also held various jobs working for Gene Baker Allis Chalmers, Don Swafford Ford, the Missouri Highway Department, transporting mobile homes out of Newton, Kansas, Stride Rite Shoe Factory as well as custom bailing and combining.  Jim retired in 1994.  He was a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed dearly.

Mr. Parton was preceded in death by his parents; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and John Sall; grandson, Kevin Sall and step-son Eric Roach.  Those left to mourn his passing include: wife of the home; son, Steve (Wendy) Parton of Ogden, Utah; daughter, Leanna (Bill) Culver of Ankeny, Iowa; step-son, J.L. (Valerie) Roach of Kansas City, Missouri; step-son, Glen Roach of South Bend, Indiana; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and 1 step-great-great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, April 20th, 2019 at Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Friends may call after 11 AM Friday.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cope-Shambaugh Cemetery in loving memory of Jim Parton.  Burial to be held at later date at the Cope-Shambaugh Cemetery, Weatherby, MO.  Arrangements are under the direction of Stith Funeral Home in Gallatin.
