Helen L. Tolen

Helen Lucile Tolen - age 93 of Gallatin, MO passed away Thursday morning, October 3rd, 2019 at Cameron Regional Medical Center in Cameron, MO. Helen was born on April 21st, 1926 the only daughter of Oliver and Essie Katherine (Hays) Croy east of Jameson, MO in the rural Scotland Church neighborhood. Helen was baptized at the Scotland Church of Christ.  She grew up during the Great Depression and attended Jameson School through the eighth grade and then Gallatin High School where she graduated in 1943.  Shortly after graduation she began working for the local telephone company in Gallatin where she was employed for over 40 years. On July 3rd, 1946 she was united in marriage to Charles Arnold Tolen in Gallatin.  Helen attended the Gallatin First Christian Church.  She enjoyed crocheting, working in her garden and tending her flowers. She was a great cook and loved to share her recipes and bake for people and events. She was always ready to deliver a favorite cake or pie to a friend.  Helen will be dearly missed.
 

A devoted mother and wife, Mrs. Tolen was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Arnold.  Survivors: son, Ronald K. (Jil) Tolen of Cameron; son, Jerald J. (Marilyn) Tolen of Kansas City; Arnold’s son, Gary Arnold Tolen of Cameron; 5 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral Service: 2 PM Monday, October 7th, 2019, Stith Funeral Home, Gallatin.  Visitation: One-hour prior at the funeral home.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 AM Monday.
