George E. Mott - age 94 of Kansas City, MO passed away Sunday morning, May 19th, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. George was born on March 3rd, 1925 the son of Roy William and Mabel Lucille (Dolan) Mott in Hamilton, MO. He served the United States Navy during World War II from December 29th, 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1945. George served on the Day Star ship in the Pacific. On March 3rd, 1947 he was united in marriage to Betty Rae Watson in Polo, MO. George was an over the road truck driver for 36 years. He drove for Merritt Foods, IML Freight and Woods Industries. George retired in 1985. He was a member of the VFW Post #741 in Excelsior Springs, MO. George had a good sense of humor and was a jokester. He was a dog and animal lover. George enjoyed country music, crosswords and playing dice. He was very particular about his cars.
Mr. Mott was preceded in death by his wife and parents. Survivors include: daughter, Melody (Jim) Lewellen of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Winnette (Dale) Lewellen of Lake Ozark, MO; son, Randy (Debbie) Mott of Kansas City, MO; sister, Jean Fisher of Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Brandy (Eddie) Cerny of Imperial, MO; granddaughter, Heather Atkins of Kansas City, MO; great-grandchildren: Ethan Mott, Emma Mott, Isabella Cerny; several nieces, nephews and other extended family members also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, May 23rd, 2019 at Prairie Ridge Church west of Polo, MO. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the church. Burial with full military honors to follow the service at Prairie Ridge Cemetery.
