Ernie Alan Norton Sr.

Ernie Norton Sr. - age 71 of Polo, MO passed away Monday morning, July 8th, 2019 at his home.  Ernie was born on January 18th, 1948 the son of Gilbert and Helena (Glenn) Norton in Rome, Indiana.  He was a 1967 graduate of Polo High School.  On December 3rd, 2005 Ernie was united in marriage to Dixie (Leamer) Aubrey in Polo.  He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association.  Ernie enjoyed going to garage sales, fishing and being ornery.  He was witty and had a dry sense of humor.  Ernie loved his wife, kids and grandkids.  He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Mr. Norton was preceded in death by: his parents; stepfather, Charles Tanner; brother, Shelby Norton; brother, Todd Norton. Those left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life include:  wife, Dixie of the home; daughter, April (Chris) Fickess of Polo; son, Ernie (Lyla) Norton of Polo;  son, Jeff (Alinda) Norton of Polo; stepson, Wally (Jamy) Aubrey of Polo; stepson, Jim (Annette) Aubrey of Sedalia; brother, Wayne (Ruth) Norton of Lee’s Summit; brother, Charlie Tanner of Cowgill; sister-in-law, Wanda Norton of Lee’s Summit; grandchildren: Houston (Joslynn) Stone, Andrew Stone, Luke Fickess, Hunter Fickess, Landon Norton, Layna Norton, Libby Norton, Elly Norton, Kaydence Norton, Gavin Norton, Jeremy (Jessica) Aubrey, Gage Aubrey, Haley Aubrey, Brandon (Morgan) Aubrey, Aimee Aubrey, Mary Reed, Jack Reed. Other extended family members also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Shirkey's Hospice or the Polo Christian Church in loving memory of Ernie Alan Norton Sr. and may be left at or mailed to Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo (301 E. Elm St Polo, MO 64671). Funeral services will be held 10 AM Friday, July 12th, 2019 at the Polo Christian Church. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM Thursday evening, July 11th, 2019 at Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo. Burial to follow the services at Zimmerman Cemetery south of Polo. Friends may call after 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
