Edith Jane was born March 25, 1926, in Cowgill, Missouri, to Lorenzo and Lucille (Linville) Tucker, and she lived near Cowgill for most of her life. She married Thurman Cox on April 30, 1947, and together they raised three children while enjoying farm life.

Though Edith Jane never held employment outside the home, she actively supported farm life, and was active in a variety of community and church activities. She was a fifth-generation Methodist, and lived a faith that demonstrated compassion, care, and understanding. She was active in women’s activities, and served in a number of leadership responsibilities, including church treasurer.

Widowed at the age of 50, Edith Jane continued to manage the family farm until she was 75. She then moved to Excelsior Springs, and quickly became involved in church life there. In 2015, she moved to the Primrose Retirement Community, and remained there until her passing.

Edith Jane is succeeded by her children Pamela Buck and husband the Rev. Charles Buck, Terry Cox and wife Barbara (Donakey), and the Rev. Stephen Cox and wife Linda (Jenkins). In addition, she leaves grandchildren: Sherilyn Borders (Chad), Chris Buck (Robyn), Mike Buck (Jennie), Jeff Cox, Tim Cox, Jenny Cox, Stephanie Marker (Andrew), and Mark Cox (Jen), along with 12 great-grandchildren.
