David F. Glenn

David F. Glenn - age 89 of Lathrop, MO and formerly of Liberty, MO passed away on Monday, September 9th, 2019 at his home. David was born on January 14th, 1930 in Osceola, IA the son of Emmett and Gladys (Twombley) Glenn.  He grew up in Osceola and was a 1948 graduate of Osceola High School.  David served our country in the United States Airforce during the Korean War from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1954.  He was stationed at Randolph Airforce Base in San Antonio, TX.  On December 12th, 1952 he was united in marriage to Alecia Campbell in Osceola. They were married for 35 years before separating.  David obtained a bachelor’s degree from Northwest Missouri State Teacher’s College in Maryville, MO and a master’s degree in education from Central Missouri State Teacher’s College in Warrensburg.  He moved to Liberty, MO in 1959 where he taught Industrial Arts at Liberty High School and later Maple Park Junior High School in North Kansas City.  David retired after 30 years in education.  David also enjoyed farming part-time.  He had lived on his farm east of Lathrop for 40 years.  He was a longtime member of a bowling league and the Lathrop American Legion Post 467.  He enjoyed the outdoors, raising cattle, fishing, boating, skiing, driving around, being a part of the local “coffee club” and going to auctions.  David also loved car racing. 

Mr. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents and longtime companion, Betty Wilson.  Survivors include: son, Bruce (Cherri) Glenn of Liberty; Bruce’s mother, Alecia Glenn of Liberty; granddaughter, Kristina (Shawn) Strickland of Liberty; granddaughter, Heather (Ryin) Brandt of Paola, KS; great-grandchildren: Lorelai, Theo, Kennedy, Carter and Waverly; sister, Deleth Gorseline of Van Wert, IA and the Betty Wilson family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warriors Project in care of the funeral home.  Memorial services are scheduled for 5:30 PM Tuesday, September 17th, 2019 at Stith Family Funeral Home in Lathrop. Visitation begins at 4:30 PM (1 hr. prior to the service) at the funeral home. Inurnment at Glenridge Cemetery in Liberty, MO. Arrangements entrusted to Stith Family Funeral Home in Lathrop.
