David J. Rogers, Jr. - age 66 of Gallatin, MO passed away Tuesday evening, November 26th, 2019 at Hillcrest Manor in Hamilton, MO. David was born on May 23rd, 1953 at the Camp Pendleton, CA Naval Base Hospital, the son of David Joe Sr. and Jetta (Fisher) Rogers. He was a 1971 graduate of Fallbrook Union High School, Fallbrook, CA. David then attended diesel mechanic school in Phoenix, AZ. On August 4th, 1973 he was united in marriage to Barbara Glenewinkel at the First Baptist Church, Gallatin. To this union, three children were born. David worked 13 years at Kenworth Dart in Kansas City, MO, Allis Chalmers, IGA Grocery in Cameron and then began his 22-year career as a correction officer for the State of Missouri, where he obtained rank of Lieutenant. David worked at the Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City, MO and Western Missouri Correctional Center in Cameron, MO. He was a member of the Hamilton United Methodist Church, Hamilton, MO. He loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He spent a lot of time at Lake Viking catching 40 to 60 lb. catfish. David was humble, simple and soft-hearted. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. David was selfless and giving. He was strong in his Christian faith. David will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Daphne Osborn and granddaughter, Lexi Potts. Survivors: wife, Barbara Rogers of the home; son, Paul (Missy) Rogers of Hamilton; son, James (Tonya Lintner) Rogers of Gallatin; Amanda (Mike) Potts of Hamilton; sister, Mary Korneman of Cameron; sister, Lydia (Ed) Dearmont of Maitland; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; beloved dog, Hawkeye; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Lymphoma Society or Kickin' Cancer with Kindness in care of the funeral home. Funeral Service: 10 AM, Saturday, November 30th, 2019 at Stith Funeral Home, Gallatin. Visitation: 6 to 8 PM, Friday, the evening prior at the funeral home. Burial: Winston Cemetery, Winston, MO.
