Dave Falk – age 62, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Saturday morning, December 2nd, 2017 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO.

He was born January 30th, 1955 the son of Donald and Mary (Huddleston) Falk in Kansas City, KS.  Having grown up in Kansas City, KS, Dave graduated from Washington High School in 1973 and later attended Northwest Missouri State in Maryville where he received his bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on metalsmithing.

Dave was united in marriage to Robin Schemmer, on July 5th, 1999 in the Bahamas where they enjoyed a ceremony on the beach.  Together they enjoyed travel, having visited Hawaii, Seattle, San Diego and Spain. Dave and Robin also shared the gift for laughter and a love for enjoying life to its fullest.

He was a self-employed luthier since 2002 in which Dave handcrafted musical instruments such as archtop guitars, mandolins, and dulcimers which allowed him to combine two of his passions, Art and Music.  In previous years Dave was an Art Teacher in Iowa and did IT (information technology) work for Hallmark.

As a member of the Mount Washington Masonic Lodge #614 in Independence, MO, Dave took great pride in helping repair and tune the lodges 90+ year old piano.  He then taught himself to play the songs so once again music would return to the ceremonies.  He exemplified the power of Masons working together to make for better men creating better societies for their families and communities.

Having lived most of his life in the greater Kansas City area, Dave had a great fondness and connection to the city.  Although he excelled as a fine artist with the creation of his hand built instruments, Dave was also well versed as a painter, illustrator and a musician.  His sense of humor and the ability to make friends anywhere he traveled, endeared himself to everyone he met.  It is undoubtable, that he will be missed by many.

Preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Mary. Dave is survived by his wife, Robin, his brother, Dennis and his wife Ann Falk of Kansas City, KS as well as a nephew, Casey Falk of Kansas City, KS.

Dave had a great respect for our men and women in uniform and a love for dogs, therefore, Memorial contributions to America’s VetDogs would be greatly be appreciated.  They may be left at or mailed to Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo, MO (301 E. Elm St. Polo, MO 64671).  For more information about this charity, please visit www.vetdogs.org
