Charles Conrad Walton Obituary

 

Charles Conrad Walton - age 80 of Gallatin, MO and formerly, of Altamont, MO passed away Friday morning, January 17th, 2020 at Cameron Regional Medical Center, Cameron, MO.  Conrad was born on July 8th, 1939 the son of Charles Owen and Doris Marie (Blackburn) Walton in Gallatin, MO.  He grew up in Gallatin and was a 1957 graduate of Gallatin High School.  On January 4th, 1959 he was united in marriage to Mary Suzanne Barker at the Altamont United Methodist Church. To this union, two children were born.  Conrad obtained a journalism certificate from the University of Missouri at Columbia.  He worked for printing companies in Unionville, MO, King City, MO, and Albany, MO before a 21-year career with Adams Printing in St. Joseph, MO.  Conrad founded Walton Printing Company in 1994 in Trenton, MO, before retiring in 2014.  He was a member of the Communications Workers of America Local #15 Union and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.  Conrad was also a member of the Altamont United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer for 43 years.  He was an Amateur Radio Operator, call number NOQPX and had an extra class license.  Conrad also had a Private Investigator’s license from the state of Missouri.  In 1992, he was a candidate for Daviess county sheriff.   Conrad was very mechanically inclined and could fix anything.  He enjoyed riding motorcycles and taking road trips.  Conrad also enjoyed duck hunting and rabbit hunting.  He liked taking family vacations and had been in every state except Hawaii and Alaska.  Conrad was crazy about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them play sports, especially basketball and football. Conrad was a generous and humble man. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. 

Mr. Walton was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Junior Stephens; brother, Jerry Walton.  Survivors: wife of 61 years, Susie of the home; sister, Millie Stephens, of Kansas City; daughter, Laurie (David) Roll of Gallatin; son, Eddie (Julianne) Walton of Trenton; grandchildren: Cody, Ethan, Arianna and Briar; 6 great-grandchildren: nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.       

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Altamont United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Inurnment at a later date at Mt. Ayr Cemetery, Altamont, MO. Conrad’s wishes were for his body to be donated to science. His body has been gifted to the Department of Anatomy at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, A.T. Still University, Kirksville, MO.
