Charles McCubbin Obituary

Charles Lester McCubbin – age 80 of Rayville, MO passed away Wednesday morning, May 23rd, 2018 at Northcare Hospice House in North Kansas City, MO.  Charles was born on February 2nd, 1938 the son of James Franklin and Ethel Mae (Shumate) McCubbin in Ray County, MO.  He attended school in Polo, MO and Excelsior Springs, MO, graduating in 1956 from Excelsior Springs High School.  On July 11th, 1959 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Matchett in Excelsior Springs.  Together they made their home in rural Lawson, MO raising three children.  In 1994 they moved to Rayville, MO. Charles was a carpenter for 40 years, mostly being self-employed.  He was a member, trustee, and first elder of Bethel Christian Union Church.  Charles liked to joke around and had a great sense of humor.  He was creative, humble, selfless, and a good storyteller. Charles was dedicated to his family and to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  He was also a big Royals fan.  Charles will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Mr. McCubbin was preceded in death by: his parents; sister, Dorothy Tackett; brother, Elwyn Griffin; infant brother, John McCubbin; and several half-siblings. Those left to mourn his passing include: wife, Bonnie of the home; daughter, Glenda (Gregory) Carroll of Lawson, MO; son, Danny (Amy) McCubbin of Lawson, MO; son, Donny (Brooka) McCubbin of Pea Ridge, AR; grandchildren: Jeromy, Jessica, Jason, Bethany, Jacob, Noah, Seth, Miriam, and Aaron; great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Brayden, Max, Maverick and Luke; brother, James (Norma) McCubbin of Lawson, MO; sister Mary Frances Reynolds of Richmond, MO; many nieces, nephews and friends.   

Pallbearers: Jacob McCubbin, Noah McCubbin, Seth McCubbin, Aaron McCubbin, Jeromy Hayes, Jason Hayes, and Brayden Rhodus. 

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Bethel Christian Union Church in loving memory of Charles Lester McCubbin and may be left at or mailed to Stith Family Funeral Home (301 E. Elm St. Polo, MO 64671). Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 26th, 2018 at Old Union Church near Lawson, MO. The family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Bethel Cemetery Polo, MO. Arrangements: Stith Family Funeral Home in Polo.
